Re: Documentation for TwinFin

The version 5.0 documentation can be obtained through the Netezza support site support.netezza.com

NPS 5 is just about identical in functionality to NPS 4.6.  NPS 4.6.5 has functionality which is not currently in NPS 5.0 since 4.6.5 was actually released *after* 5.0.

The next release of NPS for TwinFin will have many new features which do not exist on the older Mustang based (the 10000 series) hardware.

Re: Documentation for TwinFin

That isn't to say that the 10000 series and TwinFin work the same way, but the TwinFin systems were built using the NPS 4.6 software modified to take advantage of the different architecture of the new TwinFin hardware.  So although 5.0 doesn't have commands which differ in any significant way from 4.6, NPS 5.0 does have major performance differences due to much faster CPU, more RAM, and faster network.  TwinFin also caches data in memory whereas the older 10000 series hardware had to read data off disk for every query.  Compression is also no longer an optional feature, all TwinFin systems have compression turned on.  None of these features are visible to the end user except for the better performance which results from the hardware changes and disk caching mechanisms.
