Hi All,
We have NPS system avaliable and working for last 4 years now. currently we are on release 4.6.6.
we have been facing this issue for last 2 months only
We see ideal session for 15 hrs and when we try to abort it we get error message :
While aborting sessions we are getting following error-
[nz@SERVERNAME ~]$ nzsession abort -id 65236
Are you sure you want to abort the session (y|n)? [n] y
Error: session abort failed for session 65236; reason is 'timeout'.
[nz@SERVERNAME ~]$ nzsession abort -id 70093
Are you sure you want to abort the session (y|n)? [n] y
Error: 305 second timeout expired before command completed, exiting
Only work around is to bounce the prodction system which is not recommended , we have raised support ticket with Netezza and they had suggested to either upgrade to 4.6.12 or to twinfin .
while both upgrades would take time , i would like to ask fellow esteemed users if that can share some details / reason on details of the problem.
This issues is reported while we are doing and truncate / insert using our ETL ( datastage) in a single stage. Please also note that we have only faced this issues in 4.6.6 and never before.
One option to getrid of idle sessions is to set idle session time out value. We have noticed similar ghost sessions without having any issues. Are you having any issues with these ?
